چکیده
This study proposes a microfluidic system comprising channel and cylindrical hole for holding commercially available culture insert with collagen vitrigel membrane. Because the bottom surface of top are in same plane, flow medium can be directly applied to cells on surface. Additionally, is easily removable from various biological analyses standard protocol, making this accessible users who not experts engineering. To demonstrate potential applications system, we confirmed that by applying medium, endothelial cultured myotubes aligned depending direction. We believe will useful tool morphological based fluidic shear stress. • The allows application stress morphology membrane was controlled system. Confocal microscopy TEER measurements were performed

Applying a Modified Two-Fluid Model to Numerical Simulation of Two-Phase Flow in the Membrane Chlor-Alkali Cells
In this study, gas evolution in a vertical electrochemical cell is investigated numerically with a modified two-fluid model. The mathematical model involves solution of separate transport equation for the gas and liquid phases with an allowance to inter-phase transfer of mass and momentum. The governing equations are discreted via the finite volume technique and then are solved by ...
متن کاملTransport and shear in a microfluidic membrane bilayer device for cell culture.
Microfluidic devices have been established as useful platforms for cell culture for a broad range of applications, but challenges associated with controlling gradients of oxygen and other soluble factors and hemodynamic shear forces in small, confined channels have emerged. For instance, simple microfluidic constructs comprising a single cell culture compartment in a dynamic flow condition must...
متن کاملDevelopment of an oxygenation culture method for activating the liver-specific functions of HepG2 cells utilizing a collagen vitrigel membrane chamber
We recently developed a collagen vitrigel membrane (CVM) chamber possessing a scaffold composed of high-density collagen fibrils. In this study, we first confirmed that the advantage of CVM chamber in comparison to the traditional culture chamber with porous polyethylene terephthalate membrane is to preserve a culture medium poured in its inside even though the under side is not a liquid phase ...
متن کاملMicrofluidic alignment of collagen fibers for in vitro cell culture.
Three dimensional gels of aligned collagen fibers were patterned in vitro using microfluidic channels. Collagen fiber orientation plays an important role in cell signaling for many tissues in vivo, but alignment has been difficult to realize in vitro. For microfluidic collagen fiber alignment, collagen solution was allowed to polymerize inside polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS) channels ranging from ...
متن کاملBasement membrane collagen: degradation by migrating endothelial cells.
One of the first steps in neovascularization is dissolution of the basement membrane at the point of endothelial outgrowth. An assay was developed to determine whether basement membrane collagens (types IV and V) are degraded by endothelial cells migrating toward a chemotactic stimulus. Fetal bovine endothelial cells were placed on one side of a filter containing the collagen substrate, and a c...
